Enterprise Mobility 2021-2022: The largest developments
Our industry is continuously developing. A lot has happened again in 2021. Some changes we saw coming, other trends surprised everyone. 2022 will also bring many new developments. A spoiler alert: security is becoming more important than ever. Let us catch you up to speed.
Looking back at the developments of Enterprise Mobility in 2021
To many organisations, the year 2021 turned out differently than expected. When it comes to Enterprise Mobility, we see two main trends: Demand was higher than expected, and the migration from Windows to Android took off.
More demand due to market developments
The increasing demand for Enterprise Mobility in 2021 was due to companies in the retail and logistics sector gaining more customers and developing new activities. For example, the processing and delivery of parcels, and the associated logistics processes, have experienced impressive growth. Consumers ordered en masse: from packages at web shops to daily groceries. Mainly because of the logistics processes, companies had a greater need for Enterprise Mobility.
Migratie from Windows to Android
The first signs of the transition from Windows to Android were seen in 2021. This also contributed to the growth of Enterprise Mobility. The Windows Operating System for Enterprise Mobility devices is no longer supported by Microsoft. And that creates problems around security and keeping devices up-to-date.
As the support for Windows devices has ended, organisations are moving to devices that run on Android. Android is very suitable for mobile devices and the support by Google is very good. Much of this migration took place in 2021 and we expect this transition to continue in the coming years.
The developments of Enterprise Mobility in 2022
Looking ahead to 2022, we see several developments. This is partly due to staff shortages. But do you know what’s the main driver for change? Security. The focus on security is getting bigger and bigger, and various developments are arising from this.
Automation and robotisation
First of all, we see that staff shortages will continue to increase in 2022. These shortages mean that companies will need to further optimise and automate their business. The demand for robotics is increasing. That’s why we expect to make great strides in robotisation next year, especially in warehouses.
More focus on security
The next – and biggest – development is the further focus on security. The risk of being hacked is undiminished. To close leaks and keep data safe, you need updates and security patches. Organisations are increasingly realising how important it is to have their software and hardware up-to-date in order to prevent malicious people from entering.
We also see this movement at Dalosy. Companies are increasingly asking our experts to provide mobile devices and equipment with the latest security patches to ensure their safety. In the past we had to convince companies of the importance of updates and security, now we notice that companies are already aware of it. What a good development!
The migration from Windows to Android is related to the focus on security. The decline in support for Windows software means that vulnerabilities can no longer be patched, hence organisations become more vulnerable to hackers. For good security, your operating system must be up-to-date. Windows doesn’t provide that anymore, Android does.
Proactive lifecycle management
Also related to security: proactive lifecycle management. We expect this to receive more attention in 2022, in order to stay ahead of the hackers. With proactive lifecycle management, you immediately install every new software version, instead of catching up every once in a while. With regard to hardware, you proactively check when devices are end of life, end of service, or end of sale.
All systems and software must be aligned. In many cases, organisations do not have the knowledge and time for this. That is why we take care of the management of their systems and devices, so that security and updates are always working and up-to-date.
Due to the diversity in our customer base, we encounter many issues which we perceive as a big advantage. Every time we solve a technical problem, we learn from it. We use this knowledge to prevent or solve the problem more quickly at other companies. We continuously update our knowledge and learn every day. This allows us to be a valuable knowledge partner for our customers.
Dalosy in 2022
We are very much looking forward to continuing to support organisations in 2022. That is why we are working on improving and expanding our services. A good example of this is Enterprise Mobility Management. We provide services for mobile hardware and to manage the software. We will expand this service from mid-2022. What you can expect is more functionality, better WiFi coverage, battery management and more.
Extra news that doesn’t change our service, but is fun to share: we are working on a new logo. Fresh and contemporary. Keep an eye on the website to stay informed.
